Petroleum Quartz Specimen
About This Specimen
Petroleum Quartz, a carbon containing quartz, is characterized by the inclusion of crude oil within the crystal structure. It is created in high temperature and high-pressure growth environments, allowing liquid to be trapped within the quartz. These stones fluoresce under UV light.
This specimen would make a wonderful display piece, containing a central cavity full of petroleum quartz needles that glow a beautiful orange under UV.
